Looking for Boy & Girl Scouts for Congregation Ner Tamid Scout Shabbat February 24, 2012
Reform Jewish Congregation Ner Tamid of West Cobb will be proudly offering our first Scout Shabbat on Friday evening February 24th, 2012 starting at 7pm. This service, led by Rabbi Thomas P. Liebschutz, will be celebrating Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts from our congregation and surrounding areas. Services will be held in borrowed space at Christ Lutheran Church, 176 West Sandtown Road, Marietta, just South of Dallas Highway. All scouts attending this service in uniform will receive a special patch.
In addition, we encourage our scouts to work during the year to earn their Religion Emblems. If you have received this during the year, then Scout Shabbat is a time to have it officially bestowed by the Rabbi, and for you to proudly wear it and show off. Links to the requirements for earning these emblems can be found below. Please e-mail Amy Berris at mom2smirly@aol.com if your scout plans to be in attendance, so patches and religious awards can be ordered. You may also leave a message at 678-264-8575 with the name of the Scout and whether a Boy or Girl Scout as there are different patches for each. Please call by February 8 to insure we have enough patches.
Congregation Ner Tamid was formed in May of 2006 to service the needs of north Marietta, Smyrna, Vinings, Dallas, Kennesaw, Acworth and surrounding areas. We are an unaffiliated Reform synagogue focused on forming relationships; those between members of our community and your relationship with your synagogue. We are a small, tight-knit Reform congregation. The majority of our congregants are young families, though we have an active and growing population of a more seasoned generation of Jews, whose experiences and knowledge is cherished.
